September 2000

Master's Message

My Brethren:

At our Second Stated Communication September 28 all officers will switch back to the "Winter uniform" black tuxedo coat and trousers, Stationed officers in tails.

At the first Stated Communication this month, we will recognize an individual who has performed outstanding service to the community and the city of Alexandria. Please join with us in honoring our citizenry.

Our second Stated Communication this month will be Wardens Night, Brother Phil Hays will be in the East for the first half of the meeting, and then Brother Brent Campbell will complete the meeting.

It is not to far off...the trip to Constitutional Lodge in Beverley, England. Brother Brent Campbell would like to meet with those brethren of Alexandria-Washington Lodge for a planning and informational meeting on September 28, 2000 at 6:45 p.m. in the west end of the Memorial dinning room.

The By-laws and Resolutions committee has been hard at work reviewing and updating our Lodge's By-laws and Resolutions. The proposed changes were read at the second Stated Communication last month, and will be voted on at the September 28th Stated Communication. Copies of the proposed changes will be available at the September 14, Stated Communication. You may also request a copy via e-mail, or fax by calling Right Worshipful Jack Canard or me. You can also visit the following WebPage http://aw22.com/aw22/by-laws.pdf and download an Adobe Acrobat copy of the file.

October 28 is Alexandria-Washington Lodge's Ladies night. Dinner will be at the Village Wharf restaurant located 5 miles south of Route 1 on Fort Hunt Road. The menu and events will be published in the October Trestleboard, please contact one of the Wardens or me for further information.

Brethren, Worshipful Brother John Nicholson has told me that he plans to retire from Federal Government services next year, and his future plans are to move to West Virginia in 2002. He suggested that we start looking for someone who could "understudy" with him for the position of Lodge Treasurer. If anyone has any accounting experience or would like to take on a challenging job, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Terry L. Gigure
Worshipful Master
