My Brethren:
October is already here and I do not know where the time has gone! It seems that I just got started and we are already looking at Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the end of the Masonic year.
Worshipful Brother Phil Hays will make his official visit to our first Stated Communication this month; his talk will be on the Masonic Home of Virginia. Brother Hays has been the Masonic Home Ambassador for a number of years therefore he has a wealth of knowledge concerning the functioning and administration of the Home.
Worshipful Brother Wardell Thomas will be in the East for our second Stated Communication this month. Other Past Masters will be sitting in the various officers' seats. This is the traditional Past Masters Night, so come on out and see some of our illustrious Past Masters fill the officers stations and places. Dinner will be served before the meeting and very light refreshments will be served after.
In association with William L. Elkins Lodge, we will be celebrating a tradition of honoring the most endearing part of our lives, our Ladies. The event will be held at the Village Wharf, 7966 Fort Hunt Rd, Alexandria, VA. Please review the enclosed flyer. Tickets are available from any officer of the Lodge. As always all Ladies are free, Masons and Gentlemen will be $20.00, for further information please contact the Junior Warden, Senior Warden, or me THE CUT OFF DATE FOR TICKETS IS OCTOBER 13, 2000.
Last month we approved and updated our By-laws and Resolutions. Copes of the By-laws and Resolutions will be available as soon as Grand Lodge approves them and they are printed. After their approval and printing, you may obtain a copy by contacting Most Worshipful Monty Quick or me.
Grand Lodge is almost upon us; at our first Stated Communication in November, we will be discussing the resolutions to be presented and voted on at the Grand Lodge Communication.

Brethren, Worshipful Brother John Nicholson has told me that he plans to retire from Federal Government services next year, and his future plans are to move to West Virginia in 2002. He suggested that we start looking for someone who could "understudy" with him for the position of Lodge Treasurer. If anyone has any accounting experience or would like to take on a challenging job, please contact me at your earliest convenience. |
