Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

March 2003

Master's Message

Brethren,

I wish to thank all participating brethren for making February, the Month of George Washington, a great success. As for this month, we have a much lighter schedule, moving back into normal Degree and Stated activity. There are several events of note, however, for March.

We have two visiting Lodges on the second weekend. The first is Frackville Lodge No. 737 from Frackville in the Grand Jurisdiction of Pennsylvania and, the second, Trimble Lodge No.117 from Cherry Hill in the Grand Jurisdiction of New Jersey. Both will be conferring Master Mason Degrees in our Lodge room.

We will also have our usual battery of degrees for our rising candidates, and I wish to thank our catechism instructors for working diligently this year while getting our new brethren up-to-speed with our ritual. It is, indeed, gratifying to see such enthusiasm on the part of our candidates. Truly, a bright future for the next generation of our Lodge.

On March 15th, the Area Leadership Conference will take place at the Alexandria Valley Scottish Rite Temple. This event is required for all officers to attend in order for us to qualify for the James Noah Hillman Award. Let's all do our best to show the AW22 banner for this important event.

On the following Saturday, March 22, we will have our annual trip to Pennsylvania for our Ladies' Night with William L. Elkins Lodge No. 271.

At our first Stated Communication of the month, we will have Worshipful Michael Paul Bible coming to speak on the Crown Jewel of Masonry, the Masonic Home of Virginia. The second Stated Communication will be York Rite Night, with two speakers: Right Excellent Companion Mark Francis Arbeen, District Deputy Grand High Priest for Capitular District 1 and Sir Knight Stewart Wilson Miner, Right Eminent District Deputy Grand Commander for Chivalric District 3. I encourage all brethren to attend if within the length of your cabletow.

NOTIFICATION: Skidmore Daylight Lodge No. 237 has officially announced their selections for next year's District Deputy Grand Master and alternate for Masonic District 1A. Our Lodge's verification of these selections will occur at our first April Stated Communication on Thursday, April 10.
