Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

July 2003

Master's Message

Brethren,

Our first Stated Communication of July will be the commemoration of the 140th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Designed in a similar fashion as his Memorial Day commemoration two months ago, Bro. Robert Harrison will be the speaker for this program. He will be focusing primarily on Masonic encounters during the War Between the States. The presentation will be supplemented with equipment and uniforms of the era.

At our second Stated Communication, we will be conferring the annual Grand Lodge Community Builder Award to a senior member of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), a worthy and well-known organization whose roots began in 1984 with the founding of its national headquarters in Alexandria. (For additional information on the NCMEC, please visit their website at http://www.missingkids.com/) Masonic birthdays for the month of July will also be celebrated that evening.

We will be calling off from labor to refreshment for both of these meetings. Entered Apprentices, Fellowcrafts and non-Masons are welcome and invited to attend.

ANNOUNCEMENT: In an effort to make the trestleboard notification process more streamlined and efficient, I am asking anyone who would like to receive the trestleboard in electronic form, instead of standard mail, to please email me at jstevens(at)patriot.net. After notification is received from you, your internet address will be added to a new mailing list created for this purpose. This will mean that members on this list will not receive a paper copy of the bulletin via U.S. Postal Services each month - email in digital form only. I hope to have this new process in place within the next several months, if there is adequate interest.
