It's hard to believe that we are almost near the end of the first quarter of 2004. Time flies when you're having fun.
I would like to thank all of those who participated at the George Washington Birthday Celebration on February 14. Although it was a well-attended event and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the planned activities. We didn't sell enough tickets to cover the expenses of the event.
A special thanks goes to those who helped me with decorations, introductions of guests, last minute errands, serving of meals, ticket collections and clean-up. Although the list is too big to name everyone, I would like to acknowledge the contributions of Jerry Owen, Mona Killian and Margaret Little, who went out of their way to assist me.
On February 12, the Lodge nominated Wor. Frank Rosser Dunaway, Jr. PM, to be recommended for the office of District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 1A in 2005. Wor. Dunaway has honorably served our Lodge as well as other appending bodies and I'm sure he'll make our Lodge and District proud, if appointed DDGM for 2005.
On a more solemn note, we received notice that the following brethren have passed away to the celestial Lodge. Brother David Canfield Hastings, Brother Harry Sylvan Blivess and Wor. Oliver Lloyd Onion. Please keep their families in your prayers.
At our first Stated Communication on March 11, we will receive the District Child ID Coordinator, Wor. Robert Rohrback. On March 18 our sister Lodge, Andrew Jackson will be celebrating their 150th anniversary and we will help them celebrate this special occasion with a joint Communication. This means that our second Stated Communication in March will be held on Thursday, March 18 with dinner served at 6:30pm. Please make an effort to attend this special occasion.
In addition to our Stated Communications, the following activities are also scheduled for March. Fraternal Visit to Springfield Lodge No 127 on March 2, Trustees and Scholarship Committee meetings on March 3 and 4, Entered Apprentice and Master Mason degrees on March 8 and 25.
Wor. John Shroeder will be the speaker for our educational EA Lodge on March 15. He will speak on the influence of Freemasonry in US history. I have also re-scheduled Rt. Wor. Riddell's program on Alexandria-Washington Lodge and some of its eminent members for March 29.
We will conclude our March activities by participating in the District Ritual School on March 30. Where we will refine our proficiency on the first section of the Master Mason degree. We are responsible for the part of Junior Warden and Senior Steward.
We have a full month ahead of us, please come out and support your Lodge.
Sincerely and fraternally,

Frank S. Skwirut
Worshipful Master
