Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

October 2004

Master's Message

Brethren,

The official visit of Constitutional Lodge in September was definitely one of the highlights of 2004. We enjoyed a week long of fellowship with our visiting brethren and their ladies, before they continued their travels to Massachusetts. RW Jack Canard, PDDGM did a fine job of coordinating the various activities and logistics associated with this event while managing to remain within budget. I also would like to thank all the members of the Visitation Committee for all of their efforts and support.

In addition to our Stated Communications and scheduled degrees, October is when we usually celebrate Ladies Night. This year Ladies Night will be celebrated on October 9 at the Kennedy Center where we will dine at the newly renovated Roof Terrace Restaurant. We will also attend a performance by Kenny Barron Quintet and Stefon Harris, two renowned Jazz musicians. This is a limited seating affair and tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis. The cost for the dinner and performance is $70.00 per person or $140.00 per couple. A hospitality Suite will be available from 1:00pm through 4:30pm at Sheraton Suites Alexandria, located at 801 N Saint Asaph St. - Alexandria VA 22314.

Concerns of whether or not hurricane Ivan would still be in our area on September 19, resulted in the re-scheduling of the lodge picnic to October 10, which is the Sunday after Ladies Night. The picnic will be at Collingwood from 1:00 to 4:00pm. If you would like to attend, please RSVP with our Junior Warden.

Due to unforeseeable circumstances one of our Wardens could not be present at the scheduled Wardens Night on September 23. Given the importance of the program scheduled for that evening, I felt it would be best to reschedule Wardens Night to October 14 so both Wardens will be in attendance while presenting their ideas for the future of the Lodge.

Ten years ago, another brother by the name of Frank had the privilege of being Master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. To celebrate Past Master's night, I have asked Wor. Bro. Frank Dunaway, PM, to preside over the Second Stated Communication on October 28, along with the line officers of 1994. Please come out and take a step back in time and see the officers of 1994 perform their finest ritual.

We also have two committee meetings scheduled for this month. The Scholarship Committee will meet on October 7 and the Archives Committee will meet on October 12. An EA degree is also scheduled for October 18.

I look forward to your participation in the activities above.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Frank S. Skwirut
