Traditionally, November is a slow month for the Lodge. It is also an important month for our Lodge, since we only have one Stated Communication. It is also in November that we make our annual visit to Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4. This is the Grand Master's last Official Visit and it is when we present him with his portrait, taken in George Washington's chair in February. Please contact Brother Ken Knight at 540-371-9136 to make your reservations for the pre-meeting dinner.
November 4 through 6 is the Grand Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Virginia, where several resolutions and amendments will be considered. A majority of the proposed amendments relate to suspension for non-payment of dues and expulsion due to Un-Masonic conduct. The most significant change proposed relates to when a member can be suspended for non-payment of dues. If the amendment is passed, any member who does not pay their current year's dues by March 31st, of the same year, will be eligible for suspension.
On November 6, Worshipful Frank R. Dunaway Jr., Past Master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 will be installed as District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 1A. His homecoming ceremony will be held at our first and only Stated Communication in November. Please come out and help us welcome our new District Deputy Grand Master to his home lodge.
The Trustees will hold their final meeting of the year on November 09. All committee members are expected to attend.
On November 21, our lodge will make an official visit to Alexandria-Washington Chapter Order of DeMolay and Bethel 22, International Order of Job's Daughters. Alexandria-Washington Lodge sponsors both of these groups and your presence will be very much appreciated by the young men and women of their respective chapters.
The first Stated Communication in October was "Wardens Night". At this Stated Communication, our Wardens presented a plan for the future of our Lodge, which resulted from the leadership conferences attended by several members of our lodge earlier this year. As a result, I have selected two action items from their presentations to address before the end of the year. One item related to better informing potential candidates on how to join our Lodge and the other relates to the establishment of a formal investigation committee. Your participation and active involvement with your lodge will be fundamental to the success of these activities.
All Lodge officers, appointed and elected, should by now have started working on their annual reports which will be due to the lodge at the first Stated Communication in December. These reports are necessary for us to proceed with the election of officers for 2005. If you are not sure of which report you should be working on, please contact me immediately.
Sincerely and fraternally,

Frank S. Skwirut
Worshipful Master
