August looks like it will be a very busy Masonic month for us. We will confer three Master Mason and two Entered Apprentice Degrees. This continues a fast pace of new Masons in the Lodge, and it is good to see the enthusiasm of these men as they set out on their Masonic careers. Alexandria- Washington No. 22 will also participate in the one day conferral on the 27th. Our Lodge will have several candidates for the degrees. These are rare events, and I encourage you to join us at the Scottish Rite Temple in Alexandria.
We will also have two visiting lodges this month. Please consider attending. Seeing how ritual is performed in other jurisdictions is really interesting, and you always meet new and interesting Masonic friends.
Right Worshipful Jack Canard still has a few tickets available for the Scottish Rite Blue Lodge Visitation on the 20th. This event, held at the Scottish Rite Temple, includes dinner and an excellent cast for a Master Mason Degree – in full costume!
Our first Stated Communication will be held jointly with Andrew Jackson No. 120. The meeting will be held in our room with the officers of both lodges taking turns in the chairs. Most Worshipful Don Robey will be with us – that always promises an enjoyable time. (Last time he was with us was St. John's Day at which he kept saying, "Hmm, almost like Virginia ritual." I wonder what he meant by that?) Following the meeting we will enjoy Andrew Jackson Lodge's annual watermelon feast in the dining room.
At our second Stated Communication on August 25th Right Worshipful Matt Szramoski will speak on the subject of traditions in Masonic Fellowship. This will also be our Bring a Friend and Bring a Mason Night. Plan now to invite and bring that man you would like to see in Lodge, whether he be a Mason who has not attended for a while or a Profane who is interested in Freemasonry. Matt's talk will be open to all – profane, EA, FC, and MM.
Finally, I would like to ask again that you add to your Lodge's support for the Society of Washington Lodges. This society, sponsored by the GWMNMA, consists of lodges with a traditional connection to Illustrious Brother George Washington. The goal of the society is to foster the memory of Bro. Washington and the heritage of those lodges most closely associated with him. Each member lodge is to donate $2500, and by vote of our Lodge in April we will contribute via individual donations. I regret to say we still have not met our goal. Of all lodges, ours should be preeminent in support of Washington's memory. Please send your donation as soon as you can. You can contact either Right Worshipful Dunaway or me for details.
Due to the resignation of our Senior Deacon Josh Wise because of a job transfer a Special Election will be held at the second Stated Communication in August.
I hope you and your families are having a great summer. Hope to see you in Lodge this month!
Sincerely and fraternally,

Jesse T. McMahan
Worshipful Master
