Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

September 2005

Master's Message

Brethren,

It is hard to believe, but the summer is almost over. I hope you and your families are all well and that you have had the chance to enjoy some vacation time.

Please note Harmony Lodge No. 17 from Washington, D.C. will be visiting and holding their meeting in our Lodge Room on the 7th. If you have time, join with our visiting Brethren and welcome them to Alexandria.

At our first Stated Communication we will be hearing from three of our members who are key leaders in the York Rite. This will be a good opportunity for those of us who would like to learn more about this Appendant Body and might be interesting in joining. Tom, Mark, and Matt will be more than happy to answer your questions about the York Rite.

On the weekend of September 16-17 we will be hosting Liberty Lodge for their visit to Alexandria- Washington Lodge No. 22. Right Worshipful Jack Canard has done the planning for this event (thank you so much, Jack, for your hard work on this), so it will be a great happening without any doubt! While the reservations for this year's event are already full, I suggest that you be on the lookout for next year when we will travel to Beverly, MA for our visit to their Lodge. This is a wonderful opportunity for Masonic Fellowship and for developing life long friendships with our sister Lodges.

Our second Stated of the month will be Wardens' Night. Brothers Tom and Bob have a great program planned for us. They are both "retired" Servicemen, Tom from the Marines and Bob from the Navy. They are dedicating the night to our veterans and current members of the Armed Forces. I know they will have an interesting program for you. Please show your support for them by being in Lodge.

On the 26th, Right Worshipful Matt Szramoski will be holding District Ritual School. Andrew Jackson No. 120 is the host, and the work will be on the Fellowcraft Degree. Brethren, we badly need more men to take part in our degree work! Would you please consider taking a role? These schools are great opportunities to meet with Brethren who are expert in ritual. They will all be more than happy to help you along that path. In that regard, please join your Brethren on the 12th and 29th as we put on Fellowcraft and Master Mason degrees respectively. We could use the help, and we will be happy to help you learn a part. Contact our new Senior Deacon, Brother Doug Wood, if you are willing to be a part of the cast.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22nd and the Annual Ladies' Night celebration with William-Elkins Lodge. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Old Town and will include a "refreshment hour", seated dinner, and entertainment and music for dancing. Get your reservations in early as seating will be limited. Contact me or one of the officers for tickets. I really hope that we can have the pleasure of sitting in Lodge with you in September!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Jesse T. McMahan
