Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

October 2005

Master's Message

Brethren,

Please note Wilkerson College Lodge No. 760 from Greensboro, SC will be visiting and holding their meeting in our Lodge Room on the 8th. If you have time, join with our visiting Brethren and welcome them to Alexandria. Seeing these Brethren perform their South Carolina ritual should be most interesting.

Our Archives Committee will meet on the 11th as noted. All members of the Lodge are welcome to attend. Unlike probably any other Lodge in the country AW22 has a tremendously rich collection of historical artifacts, many connected to Illustrious Brother George Washington. I believe many of you would enjoy learning more about the archives, and we would certainly welcome your help and support for the committee in the future.

Our first Stated Communication will be Past Masters' Night with RW Jack Canard sitting in the East. Jack has a great slate of Past Masters to fill the chairs, and we will all enjoy watching them work their magic. The program for that evening is Youth Group Appreciation Night. Both the DeMolay boys and Job's Daughters girls will be present and will present an overview of their organizations as well as a piece of their ritual work. They need and deserve our support!

At our second Stated of the month we will receive RW Frank Dunaway, DDGM Masonic District 1A, for his last official visit to our District. Please join us in helping Frank celebrate a great ending to a great year in this distinguished office. We will also discuss the Grand Lodge resolutions that will be brought up in Richmond in November.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22nd and the Annual Ladies' Night Celebration with William-Elkins Lodge. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Old Towne and will include a "refreshment hour", seated dinner, and entertainment and music for dancing. This will be a nice evening and one that your lady will enjoy. Get your reservations in early as seating will be limited. Contact me or one of the officers for tickets.

On the 24th, Right Worshipful Matt Szramoski will be holding District Ritual School in our Lodge Room. The work will be on the Master Mason Degree, first section. Brethren, we badly need more men to take part in our degree work! Would you please consider taking a role? These schools are great opportunities to meet with Brethren who are expert in ritual. They will all be more than happy to help you along that path.

Sunday, October 30th will see our annual district picnic at Collingwood. This should be a beautiful setting with the fall foliage in full swing along the Potomac. It should be a most pleasant opportunity for your family to join us for good food and fellowship. Please see our Junior Warden, Bob Watkins for tickets.

I really hope that we can have the pleasure of sitting in Lodge with you in October!

Sincerely and fraternally,

Jesse T. McMahan
Worshipful Master
