Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

November 2005

Master's Message

Brethren,

We will be making our annual visit to Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 on Friday, November 4. This traditional visit is one of the highlights of the Masonic Year as our two Lodges celebrate our historical connection with Illustrious Brother George Washington. This will also be Most Worshipful John Quinley's last official visit during his tenure in the Grand East. This is always a fun night as we enjoy fellowship with the brethren from Fredericksburg in their beautiful and historic lodge room. Worshipful Brother Steve Sanford has a special night planned that will begin with a dinner (always a highlight) at 6:30 pm followed by a Tiled Lodge at 7:30 pm. Please let me know if you plan to attend so that I can give Steve a headcount.

Grand Lodge will be held on the 7th and 8th of November. Although reservations have already been turned in for those staying overnight and attending the banquet, all members of the Lodge are welcome to attend the meetings. Please let me know if you would like to do so, and I will make appropriate arrangements for you.

There will be only one Stated Communication this month, on the 10th. We will have the honor of hearing Right Worshipful Walter Scott Downs speak on the Scottish Rite. This will be an excellent opportunity for our many new Master Masons to hear about the Scottish Rite. Also, if you know of any other Mason (from Alexandria-Washington No. 22 or any other Lodge) who would like to learn more, please invite him.

Monitor Lodge No. 197 will be making their annual, traditional visit to our Lodge on Saturday, November 12th at 10:00 am. They will hold their tiled meeting and then have refreshments in the Memorial dining room. You are all invited to join with our Brethren from Hampton, VA for this occasion.

We will have two Called Communications in November, on the 14th and 21st. Due to the holiday season kicking off, I am sure that we will need extra cast help for these degrees. Please contact Brother Doug Wood if you can help out.

Our last Trustees' Meeting for 2005 will be held on the 22nd. These meetings are open to all Lodge members, and I encourage you to attend. The meeting will start at 7:00pm in the Lodge Anteroom. These meetings offer a good opportunity for you to be informed on the financial health of our Lodge.

I really hope that we can have the pleasure of sitting in Lodge with you in November! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Jesse T. McMahan
Worshipful Master
