Thank you for electing me Master of our Lodge. It is an honor beyond measure. All of your officers are privileged to be part of such a historic and distinguished Masonic Lodge. I will work to the best of my ability to fulfill my responsibilities to the lodge. I wish to thank everyone who helped me get ready for this year. Please support this years slate of officers. A copy of my Master Plan for 2006 is enclosed. On December 5th of 1805 we added Illustrious Brother George Washington's name to our Lodge. We have carried that name for 200 years. That is why I have chosen "His Memory In Our Hearts" as my theme.
We are continuing to concentrate on the areas of improvement we discussed at the Lodge Leadership Meeting in August of 2004. This year we will have new presentations on our Charter Master and Freemasonry in general, plus we will have more opportunities to come together to socialize and have fellowship outside of the lodge. Your officers will do all we can to make the time worthwhile and fun. The Grand Master this year has asked that everyone attend something. If we would do that all of our programs and events would be much better attended. Past Master Tom McMahan is heading up a Lodge Revitalization Committee to help bring people back to the lodge. Please give him your support.
We will start the Masonic Year on the 6th with a monthly event First Friday AW. This will be our monthly social event. We enjoyed the fellowship nights that we had last year and are going to continue with more of them planned for this year. We will follow this with our first Officer's Meeting on the 7th at the Hunter Restaurant. This month we will have two Fraternal Visits as we accompany the District Deputy. Our initial degree will be on Saturday the 14th. This will be for an Entered Apprentice Degree followed by a lunch. Please join your officers and help start this man on the road to Masonry. Our first Stated Communication will be on the 12th when we will open a Lodge of Sorrow and rededicate ourselves to Masonry.
Please note that there is a Trustees Meeting this month on the 24th. Every member of the lodge is welcome to attend this important meeting. We will receive the official visit of the District Deputy Grand Master for District 1A, Rt. Wor. Carl Gagliardi, at our second Stated on the 26th. Please come out and support your lodge in these programs.
On Saturday, January 28th, the Grand Master will make his official visit to Districts 1A, 1B, and 54. Dinner will be at the Alexandria Scottish Rite Temple beginning at 6:30pm followed by an open program at 7:30pm (our ladies are welcome). Let's show our support for Most Worshipful Glover Hunter Jones, III and his wife Emily with a large turnout. Contact Rt. Wor. Jack Canard or myself for tickets in advance.
Once again, thank you for the opportunity to serve our Lodge. I am looking forward to an exciting year working with you and enjoying your company in Lodge, or at a Masonic event.
Sincerely and fraternally,
