Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

September 2006

Master's Message

Brethren,

Thanks to everyone for their participation last month. We had some of our best attended events. This month we have a very busy schedule. We will start with our 1st Friday AW - Social Event. We will meet for dinner at the Peking Duck Restaurant in Alexandria. We have a set menu and price. It should be a wonderful evening. During September we will also have two Called Communications one on the 7th to work in the EA Degree and the other on the 26th to work in the FC / MM Degree. We always like to have Brethren on the sidelines to help with a brothers first steps in Masonry. On Sunday the 10th of September we will have a Widow's Tea to honor our Lodge Widows. All Officers and their wives should plan to attend if possible. Any other members that would like to attend please RSVP to me.

On Saturday the 23rd Euclid Lodge No. 136 from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ will visit AW-22 and raise a man to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. If you have never seen NJ ritual or would just like to visit with an out of state lodge please plan to attend. At our 1st Stated Communication on Thursday the 14th we will have a program on the York Rite of Masonry given by the District Deputy Grand Commander Franklin Jay "FJ" Pepper. Please come out and hear this talk on why you should become a member of the Royal Arch and Knights Templar. On Thursday the 28th we will have our annual Warden's Night. Please come out and hear what Brothers Bob Watkins and Doug Wood have in store for us next year.

Our last event of the month is our trip to Liberty Lodge in Beverly Massachusetts. This year we have 12 members and wives signed up for the trip. This should be a great time.

My Brethren, during the past few months we have lost a couple of our Grand Lodge Officers, Most Worshipful Brother G.H. Jones, Jr. and Right Worshipful Brother James Stanley Johnson. We have also lost a few of our own Lodge Brothers. I find myself thinking of the few times that I was able to talk to Most Worshipful Jones and Right Worshipful Johnson. Although I didn't know either of them well they were always friendly and hospitable to me. Also with each of our own Brothers that we have lost I think about the times that we spent together. I find myself wishing that I had spent more time talking to some of these Brothers. I wish that I had sat with them at refreshment more often. I can't do anything about my relationship with these Brethren now but what I can do is appreciate and enjoy the time that I spend with you Brothers at our dinners, meetings, trips and every other time we get together.

I hope that you will also make more of an effort to meet with me and one another on the level. Come to our Social Events, come to our dinners, come and take me by the hand and break bread with me. Come and spend time with your Brothers. None of us knows when it could be our last time together. If you haven't been to an event this year, please come and join us. If you have please come again.

Sincerely and fraternally,

"Tom"
