Thanks to everyone for their participation last month. Thanks also to our Past Masters who did such a great job filling the chairs for Past Masters Night. We are fortunate to still have 24 Past Masters of our Lodge with us although many of them cannot attend Lodge due to health or location. But my Brethren I want each of you to understand just how much our Past Masters mean to each of us who sit in the Oriental Chair. Each of these Worshipful Masters has been ready and willing to assist me whenever I have asked for their help. I presented a program about General Washington resigning his commission and tried to relate this to how our Past Masters have stepped down when their time came, ready to assist when needed, but never trying to assume control.
I would especially like to thank everyone who came out to the Ladies Night in October. We had 43 in attendance. What a great evening, I hope all the Ladies enjoyed my feeble attempt to let them know how much I appreciate their support. The food and entertainment were both excellent. I have been asked where I found the gifts for the Ladies this year. Several years ago I discovered the woman who did these roses at a craft fair in the mountains of Virginia. While her husband was stationed in Italy with the Air Force she studied flower making from a craftsman who made the Capolimonte Roses. Instead of making her roses out of porcelain she uses polymer clay, but just like the originals the petals are made and attached one at a time. If you look closely you can see the lifelines from her hands in each petal. Treat them like a real rose handling them only by the stem and they should last a lifetime. Our other events were also very well attended.
This month we have a busy schedule. We will start at our First Stated Communication with a tribute to our Military Veterans. I am asking all Military Retirees and Military Veterans who will be attending the First Stated Communication to contact me personally. I need a head count so that I can prepare the proper number of recognitions. This month because of Grand Lodge and how much our schedule is being compressed we are moving our 1st Friday AW - Social Event to Saturday November the 4th. We will go to Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 for the Official Visit of the Grand Master. Please contact me for your dinner reservations. At this dinner / meeting we will present the Grand Master the portrait we had made of him in the Washington Chair.
This month is also the 228th Grand Annual Communication of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Virginia. We have a good size crowd of Brethren and their Ladies going to Grand Lodge this year. Even if you can't come down and stay you are still welcome to come and attend the meetings of the Grand Lodge. We will also have an Trustee's Meeting this month on Tuesday the 14th. Come out and find out how your Lodge funds are being managed. All members are welcomed at this meeting. Also this month we will a Called Communication to work in the Entered Apprentice Degree. Please come out on Tuesday the 28th and help these Brethren take their 1st step in Masonry. It is always nice to have Brethren on the sidelines for the degrees. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time out of their busy schedule to attend our events this year.
Sincerely and fraternally,
