Please note the following events for March and April:
Grand Master's Official Visit To Masonic Districts 1A, 1B, and 54. Brethren this is a pleasant opportunity to meet, in a social setting, with our Grand Master MW George Bernard Dungan, Jr. The program will be held at the Alexandria Scottish Rite Temple on Braddock Road at 5:30 PM on Saturday 10 March. It will be an open meeting for Masons and their Guests, tickets are required and are $20.00 per person. I encourage you to attend.
OTHER EVENTS OF SPECIAL INTEREST DURING MARCH AND JUNE
2007 Policy on Stated Communications: The first Stated of each month, as a rule, will involve degree work in the EA and FC degrees, when we have candidates. When feasible it will also include a short presentation or lecture and an item from the Archives Committee. There will also be business component of the meeting. The second Stated will be more traditional and will feature more formal dress, music, and generally a contemplative, spiritual atmosphere. The program will also involve a substantive and comprehensive lecture. More formal dress is encouraged and music will be featured to enhance the ambience we hope to achieve.
Lodge Ritual School: Because much of our degree work will be done at the First Stated Communication, our ritual schools will be scheduled to prepare the degree teams for those dates. Thus, I want to take advantage of the District 1A Ritual School (last Monday of every month) as a primary rehearsal date. Our second rehearsal date will be held in the AW#22 lodge room on the first Sunday of the month prior to the Stated Communication.
Trestleboard Format: Brethren, as you know, in January we announced a new "Trestleboard management" designed for cost-efficiency and conversion to e-mail distribution where possible! I am happy to report that as of this mailing our mail list is down from 521 in January to 439 for this mailing. I respectfully ask for your continued support for this effort. Hope to see you in Lodge this month!
Cumbee Bequest Presentation: In October 2006 the lodge was notified of receipt of a $100,000 bequest from the estate of Wor. Harold Cumbee and his wife Bertha. In February 2007 the Board of Trustees established a special trust account for the proceeds. At the 8 March Stated Communication the Worshipful Master plans to make a presentation to the lodge about Wor. Cumbee and a proposed plan for using a portion of these funds. Other proposals may be considered at that time as well.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Robert G. Watkins, Jr.
Worshipful Master

Greetings from the Secretary's desk,
As required by the procedures established in Executive Order No. 4, 2006-2007, issued by the Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, the lodge will be considering the nominations for District Deputy Grand Master and Alternate for Masonic year 2007-2008 as follows: as our lodge participate in the rotation system in District 1A and it is the year for John Blair Lodge No. 187 to present their nominations for the positions, the lodge will be considering for District Deputy Grand Master, Wor. Timothy Jay Butcher, Master in 1994, 1995 and 2001 and for Alternate, Wor. Robert George Mertz, Jr., Master in 2002. These nomination were announced at the Stated Communication on February 22, 2007 and will be brought up for action at the Stated Communication on March 22, 2007.
We still have eight (8) members who have not paid their 2006 dues and seventy-two (72) members who have not paid their 2007 dues. The 2006 dues are now over a year in arrears and a suspension for non-payment of dues action will be started this month. The 2007 dues are due and payable by January 1, 2007, however, you are not considered delinquent until December 31, 2007 if they are not paid by that date. You will not receive your 2007 membership card until your 2007 dues are paid. Your dues can be paid by credit card using the Lodge Web Site at http://aw22.org Just go to the page, select the "on-line payment" button and once on the payment page, find the button that applies to the payment you want to make and select that button. You will receive instructions to complete the action. If you make your payment by using the web site, you do not need to send in your dues notice, I will mail your membership card to you using another mailing page.
Sincerely and fraternally,
RW Granville C. Canard, Jr., PDDGM
Secretary
